Heel Pain
Symptoms …… - Dull ache or sharp pain when arising from bed
- Could be in the centre or on the side of the heel
- After standing for some time the pain reoccurs
When the foot excessively pronates (rolls inwards) and the arch collapses then the main muscle in the foot (plantar fascia) is stretched and elongates and can tear away from the heel bone. This strain on the main ‘muscle’ of the foot can cause inflammation at the heel attachment and the body’s compensation mechanism allows more bone to grow at the attachment to help the body to hold onto the muscle to stop a more major injury ….. this is called a heel spur.
Keeping the foot in its correct walking / functioning position is very important to eliminate the stress on the body and maintain correct body posture and wear and tear. Pedistep® repositions the foundation into its correct functioning position by realigning and controlling the heel whilst supporting the arches of the foot, as the strain is taken off the plantar fascia the inflammation and pain is reduced, eliminating heel pain.
Two hardnesses of material are combined together to give real comfort whilst correcting and aligning the foot to its correct walking position.
